To give a bit of insight about myself and my endeavours within the industry of fashion and modelling, I start with my background; I was born and raised in East Coast of Micoud, St Lucia however left my homeland for the UK aged 12, having just started my second year at the reputable St.Joseph’s Convent. While being quite introverted and inhibited to express myself in my early teen years, I was able to truly show my shameless and patriotic passion for my island through my participation in my first pageant, Miss Universal Carnival 2013. Though I was unsuccessful in winning the top crown, I felt a personal victory whereby I was able to truly feel the love and support of the St Lucian both in the diaspora and back in St Lucia itself. It was at this point where I felt I had introduced this St Lucian body to the world as The Kimhia Toussaint.
Since then I have walked in numerous London and Paris Fashion Week productions which have been choreographed by multiple BEFTA award winner, Reuben P Joseph and various other fashion shows which promote not only prominent brands but also those who are independent and prospering.
Along with the pageantry experience both in competing as Miss Universal Carnival in 2013 and winning the honour to be Miss St Lucia UK 2014, I have been able to gain a massive amount of media exposure through various news channels in St Lucia, to being featured in magazines such as “YO!” while being interviewed with prominent outlets such as “Da Vibe”. Miss Caribbean UK was also another pageant that competed in, coming 1st runner up in the process.
Beyond this, I have also been the cover girl for Nu Woman’s 2014 Spring Issue, which was photographed by none other than Fiona Compton of Paradise Prints. A 6-page spread was also done for SHE Caribbean Magazine including myself where Fiona’s clothing line was modelled. This particular edition gained a lot of attention and recognition not only for Fiona but also for myself, both in Caribbean and International circles. Having worked with Fiona extensively, from all her Paradise Print shoots (including being part of the shoot for her 2014 show at Hot Couture) to her highly sought after annual calendar, I have been able to build up a confident and reputable personal brand while also leveraging this to other endeavours.
Within the UK, from these previous endeavours and my unquestionable love for carnival also, I have become a key modelling figure within the Carnival Community where I have modelled for every major band and have proudly been made the face of Mas With a Difference (MWD), who have carnival sections internationally including, UK, Berlin, Miami and Trinidad.
